Doctrinal Statement
We try not to be dogmatic about matters on which believers hold divergent views. Our core beliefs are centered in Christ and His message as supported by Scripture. More obscure doctrine, as well as controversial issues about which the Bible is silent, are left to believers to sort out on their own. On these issues we take no official/dogmatic position. What follows is a summary of what we believe.
We believe the Bible to be the only infallible, inspired, authoritative Word of God. As such it is our final authority for all matters of faith and Christian practice.
We believe there is only one God who is the Creator of all things, and that He is eternally existent in three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and that each possess the full attributes of Deity. We futher believe that all things are from Him, and through Him, and for His glory.
We believe in Jesus Christ who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, and that His death on the cross is the only means through which we can be made right with God, that He bodily rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of God, and that He will return again to earth in power and glory.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who lives in each follower of Christ and who enables all of them to live God-honoring lives. God, the Spirit, is also at work in those outside of Christ to bring conviction of sin, righteousness and judgement to come.
We believe man willfully sinned and as a result is lost and without hope apart from receiving Jesus Christ.
We believe forgiveness of sins is available only by the grace of God through the substitutionary death of Jesus Christ, and that this free gift of forgiveness is available to each person who places their faith in Jesus Christ, repents from the sin in their lives and gives testimony of their faith through Baptism (immersion).
We believe in the return of Jesus Christ to earth and the resurrection of the dead, that the eternal fate of each person will be pronounced, those forgiven will receive eternal life with God in heaven, and those not forgiven will endure eternal separation from God in hell.
We believe in the spiritual unity of the church on earth, consisting of all Christians everywhere. The church has as its primary calling to make disciples of all nations (peoples) as Jesus stated in Matthew 28:16-20 and thus fulfill its part of the covenant announced in Genesis 12:1-3 and consummated in Revelations 7:9-10.
