Yesterday we graduated our first class of the church planter Residency program after completing 37 modules (each module a very specific training for 8 hours of class). The 37 modules with projects and seminars were over 300 hours of practical training designed by a team of pastors, missionaries, and professors to more fully equip college graduates for impactful ministry as church planters or ministry pioneers in Mexico.
As the director and primary trainer of the program, I am especially pleased with what God has accomplished through the hard work of the IMPACTO Latino team and I am very excited to see the impact will make through the lives of the twelve students who finished the 2018-2019 Residency program!
The new church to be planted in Queretaro (across the city) is already deep into the planning phase and two families forming the launch/ministry team are recent graduates of the Residency program of Impacto Latino; Andres and Bitia Garcia, Misael and Denise Sanchez. The launch team is complete with the church planting missionary family (which is our family) and together we will be the founding elders, pastors, and ministry team for this new church.
The community of the new church is a new middle-class development called, El Mirador, in Queretaro. There are a high percentage of young families and 10,000+ homes with over 25,000 people and it is projected to double in size in ten years… and there is not one single church (not even a Catholic church) in the entire area.
The vision and mission for the new church is to be an irresistible church focused on leading people into a growing relationship with Jesus. The team is completely unified in heart and has already spent time praying, planning, determining the area, visiting, taking surveys of residents of the decided community.
The next step in our pre-launch phase of the new church is for our families to move to El Mirador community and begin Bible studies in our homes. Patricia and I will begin searching for a home and we will move early in July.
Our family is doing great and excited about what God is doing here! Our boys are growing so quickly; Joshua is eight months old and starting to crawl he blabers on alot too, saying dada and mama! Caleb just turned two years old and for his birthday we went to the zoo! He is so full of energy and life and at the zoo really enjoyed seeing the elephant, the lions (like less than six feet away from us ) and feeding the dear. It was awesome!
We are making an impact that will change the world (for individuals, families, and whole cities) and it’s only possible because you so faithfully stand with us! God uses your support and those of other churches and families on our partnership team to make a God-sized vision come to fruition. Let’s keep it up! Thank you and God bless you! This is going to be a great summer!

May the Lord bless you,
The trip to the Zoo was the best birthday present for Caleb and Joshua helped him to celebrate in style!
This year started out with a short but sweet visit with our family in the Dominican Republic on Christmas day. Family, food, celebrations, baseball, and beaches made for a memorable first visit in three years and the first time our family has been able to meet our precious baby boys!
The church planter training program, called the Residency, has resumed classes with our twelve students and is now halfway through our launch year. We have endeavored to challenge the hearts and minds of present and future church planting pastors and their wives. Preaching for life change, outreach that results in rescue of lost souls, and clear organization that builds leaders are among the recent modules taught.
The training is going so well that we have decided to expand our vision and impact. Next year we plan to add online video training to the in-person training so that training can be shared with a broader audience across Mexico and Latin America. This new strategy is ground breaking and very exciting but will require our training staff, lead by Joe, to work overtime throughout the next months on our facility, courses, and training.
The second church plant is set to begin pre-launch in April with the launch planned for the Fall, as long as the necessary funding arrives. We (the Kleins) will be directly involved with this church as the new church plant’s missionary family.
This week our team has organized our second church planter assessment, called Avanza, where three couples will be helped to find their next best step for ministry with hopes that some will be a good fit for future church planting.
Patty has been working hard developing a new strategy for informing and facilitating visiting teams and interns for Impacto Latino. She will be working at least 10-15 hours a week from home and a couple of days from the office. She is enjoying using her background to contribute to the team and mission while cherishing being a mom to our two sweet boys.
On a personal note, I (Joe) want to thank you for your prayers as both my grandparents went to be with the Lord in heaven the same week. They loved well, lived each day to the fullest, taught me so much and shared hope in Jesus with contagious joy.
Please pray for…
-The Residency Program and the online video training preparation.
-The completion of funds needed for the second church plant.
-Patty to find balance between ministry and family.
-Avanza (this weekend) and all the candidates, observers, and staff involved.
-Our family, that our boys will continue to grow and find joy while serving with us.
Thank you so much for your prayers and for standing with us to share Jesus´ rescue here in Queretaro, Mexico! We are so blessed to have you in our partnership team.
May the Lord bless you,
Merry Christmas from the Klein family, all the way from Queretaro, Mexico!
May God fill your heart and home with joy and thanksgiving this year because He is always good. God has sent Jesus as a baby boy to save me and you and He has invited us to join in the rescue of other hearts too!
Thank you for praying for us and partnering with us in our small part of rescue (in planting churches) in Latin America, we thank God for you!
With trumpets and a horn blast, shout triumphantly before the Lord, the king!" Psalm 98:6
To look back at 2018 please click here and celebrate with us what the Lord has done in Queretaro, Mexico through our team of Impacto Latino.
Feliz Navidad from our family to yours!
Live from Querétaro, Mexico!
Great news from the Klein family! We have arrived safely to Querètaro, Mexico two weeks ago and we couldn't tell you how thankful we are to finally be here. We packed our suitcases and with them we brought our excitement, energy, and passion to begin working with the Impacto Latino team and fulfill the calling from God to plant healthy churches.
God put the pieces together...
The weeks leading up to our move we felt peace because we trusted God and everything was happening with such amazing timing that God's hand of provision was evident. Patricia received her US 'Green Card' in the mail just two days before we flew to Mexico (which is the only legal way for her to leave the US and be able to return). Wow right!
One week before flying we also received a generous contribution to our launch fund from Greenford Christian Church (where I was first ordained into ministry) which brought our launch-fund up to $25K within $5K of our launch budget!
We arrived and got right to work as we had hoped. We found a three bedroom house to rent in a safe neighborhood just a few minutes from the office which seems like a really good fit for us (we hope to begin moving in next week)! We have also purchased a minivan (Honda Odyssey 2012) for $12K which should be great to shuttle around our growing family and our future visitors!
The Residency Project.
Our major project: A residency training program. In August six Mexican couples and a few individuals will begin the eleven month training we have/are preparing to equip them for church planting. One of the couples will be launching a new church next year directly with Impacto Latino. We have already met several of the resident families and we are very excited about the high quality leaders that have been recruited! The training is still being designed and organized. As director of the Residency project, it is my primary responsibility to coordinate and direct this process over the next months.
Funding still needed...
We are moving forward and joyously engaged in impacting God's kingdom yet are as such still under budget with only 75% of our monthly support budget which makes us currently $1675 a/month short of the budget we are required to raise by January 2019.
The majority of these missing funds go towards enabling our ministry and our Mexican ministry team. Please help us complete this funding by contributing or introducing us to people/churches who share our vision of expanding God's kingdom through starting healthy churches.
We met the Lopez family (who don't yet go to any church) at the grocery store. They invited us over for a delicious dinner and now they are excited to visit church with us!
Our first staff meeting with the team! They even got us a cake to welcome us to the team!
Together we truly are bringing many souls towards Jesus' saving truth in this generation... but no one can do it alone, this is a partnership, a team.
We are praying for you and we are so thankful that you for praying for us! Thank you also for joining us in this God sized vision of self-sustaining and self-multiplying churches being started in Mexico (with Impacto rippling to all of Latin America)!
If you are reading this update and you have not yet joined us in support... Please pray about Joining us. We would love to celebrate God's kingdom growth in Mexico with you!
You can also help by...

Great news from the Klein family!
The first church has launched!
Our team in Mexico has just launched the first church plant La Vina (The Vineyard) in Queretaro, Mexico with great success! God is doing amazing things!
The primary focus of our mission team has now shifted towards the next major project: The residency training program. Everything must be ready in August as we have six Mexican couples who are committed to completing the eleven month training, one of the couples will be preparing for the next church launch with Impacto Latino next year. The training has to be created, written, designed, and organized. As director of the Residency project, it is my primary responsibility to coordinate and direct this process.
We have the green light to move (June 17th)!!!
Our mission board has given us the green light to move to the mission field with 80% of our monthly budget with the stipulation that we continue raising funds, from the field, in order to reach full support by 2019. We have purchased our plane tickets to move to Queretaro, Mexico on June 17th (Father's Day)!!I
Let's do this...
As we countdown to June 17th we need to have 80% of our monthly support budget and we are only $496 a/month short!
We are anxious to hit the ground sprinting as our Residency project is just around the corner in August. We are so excited to finally be moving and our team is eagerly awaiting our arrival as well. We are trusting in God, His people, and going forward in great confidence!
The roaming is almost over!
If you are reading this update and you are one of our supporters or partners in prayer... Thank you, we have felt the love and support from you throughout all of our travels. We love you, keep it up, God is going to do great things through us! The fun is just beginning!
But... If you are reading this update and you have not yet joined us in support... Now is the time to Join us! We would love to celebrate God's kingdom growth in Mexico with you!
Three more ways you could help...
1. Pray for us specifically!
2. Introduce us to someone (or church)!
3. Read our updates and send us encouragement.
Thank you so much for your friendship, prayers, and support!
More updates coming soon!
Joe, Patricia and Caleb
We have reached 71% of our projected monthly support (current and committed)! With nine churches and many families standing with us in support! The Impacto Latino board requires that we reach at least 90% of our monthly budget before leaving for the field. So, we will make a drive from Dallas to Kentucky and back in May in hopes of closing the gap. Thanks to our wonderful God and the generosity and prayers of many including you, we have also raised over two thirds ($21,000) of our one time launch fund of $30,000!
Our plan is to move to Queretaro, Mexico the end of May or early June! And guess what, we will be flying. (a quick “come visit us!” plug: Queretaro is a short, direct, and affordable flight from many US cities including Dallas, Atlanta, and Pheonix!) Isn't that amazing! Once in Mexico, we will hit the ground running. We will begin house searching right away, and jump right into establishing the church planter residency program with the Impacto Latino team.
Join us in praising the Lord for all the wonderful things He has done! God is good and we are happy to be on the way He has called us and we are confident God will protect and provide for us.
We also have great news about our growing family; Caleb (11months) has had six cute little teeth come in and he is now taking his first steps (he's almost walking)! Also, Patricia is expecting! God's timing is the right timing, remember! The new baby is due September 25th and we plan to return to Texas for the delivery. During our stay in the US in the fall (September/October) we will begin the paperwork for Mexican residency with the Mexican Embassy in the US. We are currently still waiting for the green card approval for Patty’s application though, so please pray with us that we receive this documentation before moving in May/June, and also please pray for our new little baby!
I challenge you to take steps toward trusting God completely. He is worthy of our confidence! Trust him with your relationships, your time, security, finances, and future. "Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful" (Hebrews 10:23). Trust Him more, until it scares you out of your wits. He is faithful, and we are confident that God will make a huge impact around the world, through us, in our lifetime, if we trust Him and work together!
God has blessed us this last month with many travels. February started with Joe’s visit to Queretaro to serve as a staff assessor for the first church planter assessment with Impacto Latino called, ’Avanza 2018’. Seven candidate families came to spend four days seeking God’s direction for their next steps in ministry including a possible fit for church planting.
The Impacto Latino team served the candidates families well with thoughtful preparation and careful attention, and in so setting a new high standard for future assessments in Latin America. One candidate is a good fit for lead pastor and another for the residency program with our first church plant. Praise the Lord!
We had an excellent visit to Florida. We met with four churches there, and were blessed by new friends and dear friends, even my professor of preaching from my time in Kentucky Christian University. We also had fun seeing some beautiful beaches, birds, and big alligators! We are praying for the churches sharing the love and good news of Jesus in Florida, especially for our friends at Community Christian Church in Parkland.
We visited Oklahoma at the beginning of this month. While sharing with a wonderful country church in a town called, Lone Wolf, I connected with a men's ministry called, True North, across Oklahoma and beyond. They invited me to join them on a guys retreat, called ‘Basecamp’ next month, so we will be returning to Oklahoma during the first week of April.
Our board of directors of Impacto Latino have insisted that we reach at least 90% of our original budget in order to move to the field. We are now up to 66% of our budget ($4,100 committed monthly support of $6,200 a/month needed) so we are still short $2,100 a/month. We are also making great progress, we've raised over two thirds of our goal of $30,000 for the one-time launch fund. We have been praying and working tirelessly to build our support team and we are very thankful to the Lord for bringing so many people alongside of us. Together, we aim to share the gospel impact.
The process of raising support usually takes a pre-field missionary family about two years. God has given us impressive progress in these 8 months but we're not quite there yet. Due to lack of funding, we have had to delay our move to Mexico. Originally our proposed launch date was March… Our new launch date is May 2018.
We can tell you have been praying for us! Thank you! We are also praying for you, that with us you grow in trust in our great God and His goodness and perfect timing. With your support we aim to launch in just a couple of months, to the mission field of Queretaro, Mexico.
Please, trust God with reckless faith, and keep us in your prayers.
God bless you!
This New Years and early January, Patty and I were given an amazing gift (by our dear friend and partner in the Gospel, Brian, who passed over into paradise during hurricane Irma last September). We Journeyed through Israel on the, "The Life of Christ Tour" hosted by author and songwriter Michael Card.
The idea behind sending us on this trip, Brian explained to us last Spring, was to give us a personal experience so that we could share with others a deeper love and understanding of the historical context of Jesus’ ministry as we train and admonish leaders and pastors abroad who may not get the chance to visit Israel in person.
During our time in Israel was evident to us that Jesus was a real man as well as the true Messiah, living in a real place and sharing with real people. We visited some places that gave us a contextualized chronological idea of the life of Jesus. Bethlehem, Nazareth, Judean Desert, Dead Sea, Galilee, Capernaum, Golan Heights, Jericho, Jordan River, Jerusalem, and so much more between them.
I now feel I have been reading the Bible with a new perspective and excitement. After standing in a typical shepherd’s fold, meditating in the Judean Desert solitude, swimming in the breathtaking Sea of Galilee, traveling the landmarks and countryside, and walking the narrow streets of Jerusalem. Michael Card put together more than just a tour. With a wonderful guide, with teaching caliber of a Bible college professor and love for the living God and Jesus Messiah that shined through every word and step. We also were truly blessed with a wonderful small group of folks including Michael Card adding insight and a heart of worship intermittently as we journeyed.
One thing that stayed in my mind was when we stopped to spend some time in individual meditation in the Judean desert. Just a couple of miles between the beautiful West Bank and Jerusalem. The place where Jesus was led by the Spirit when He began His ministry. Where Jesus chose to step into His identity. It kept coming back to me as I thought of all of the things that Patty and I have experienced this last year, have kind of felt like a desert. Both the blessings and the trials of being a traveling family raising support… all this came to mind when we were meditating in the Judean desert… my identity as a man, leader, teacher, and minister has been shaped by my choosing to be led by the Holy Spirit and God’s identity for me… in this desert.
Those 10 days in Israel there are always in my mind. It was such a wonderful and impactful experience to go there and it will take more than a month to process this trip. Seeing the historical sites, and walking in the places where Jesus was. Now anticipating our task ahead, we are on our home stretch to go to Mexico, the excitement of being able to share with people who are going to learn about Christ, is beginning to grow more and more. I pray God continues to open up more opportunities for me to share these new perspectives of his word with our pastors in Mexico.
Below you will see some of our pictures and we promise will put some more!
