Our family continues to do well. Lucía is practically running and loves getting into everything! She keeps us on our toes everyday. She loves reading and her current favorite book is "Is Your Mama a Llama?"
Hector finished teaching his final module of the residency program last week. We had the UCM students over for a cookout to celebrate. We will miss them when they graduate at the beginning of June!
Iglesia Cristiana La Viña
We're about a month out from the launch of the first church plant here in Querétaro. Last month we met with Gerardo, the new lead pastor and worked on pre-launch plans. During this time we chose a name for the new church: Iglesia Cristiana La Viña (Vineyard Christian Church).
Gerardo and his family will be back in Querétaro for a jam packed weekend of preparation. We will spend all day Saturday, April 21 in a planning meeting withpre-launch preparations. On Sunday April 22, we will announce the vision and plans for the new church plant with the UCM church. Héctor and Pastor Josh have spoken personally with every family in the congregation and we will present Pastor Gerardo to the congregation and celebrate the new project together after the service.
Please pray for our team as we are in the home stretch before launch on May 20!
It's been 3 weeks since our family grew. We're still pretty sleep deprived but enjoying getting to know Lucía Grace. We spent time with some of Hector's family who came to visit when we got out of the hospital. Joy's parents also spent a week and a half here cuddling their first granddaughter.
Life is starting to settle into our new normal of crying, feeding, bouncing and lots of kisses. Héctor is back at the IMPACTOnetwork office and Joy is working on projects as much as naps allow. Thank you for your support of family and church planting ministry!
On July 9, we had our official going away celebration at Iglesia Cristiana El Jubileo with Eric and Dee. Eric preached from the book of Colossians encouraging the congregation to be faithful in love, prayer, and hope. After the service, there was a delicious lunch provided by the church which allowed us to spend time with friends. We were thankful to have been joined by friends from English classes and the gym. Some of them had attended previous events, but this was the first time anyone had attended a Sunday morning service with us. Please pray that the seeds we have planted with grow. Please continue to pray for the congregation as it is now on its own with great national leadership. Pray for Pastor Luis and the elders as the lead the church. Pray that Jubileo will continue to look to impact the city of Pachuca. Wrapping up our time with Jubileo is definitely bittersweet as we say see you later to our dear family.
It's been a whirlwind springseason here in the US for Joy. Since her arrival at the end of February, she has traveled to 9 states to share what God is doing through the new IMPACTOnetwork church planting project. By the time we return to Mexico we will have driven over 5,000 miles in 2 borrowed vehicles (and some flights also)! We are thankful for new (and old) financial and prayer partners. What a blessing it is to have such a great support team that enables us to serve. If you are not yet a partnerin what God is doing in Mexico, we'd love to talk to you about the various ways you can join with us!
After riding in planes, trains, and automobiles, Hector, Jared, and Santiago arrived in Buffalo on April 11th. After 6 weeks apart, it is so good to be together again. I (Joy) am glad to have them here for the last 2 church visits as well as showing them around Buffalo and other beloved places. This is the boys' first visit to the United States, and even their first plane ride! It's been fun watching them experience new things and also being stretched by differences such as language.
At the end of this month, we will meet up with our teammates Eric and Sergio for the Exponential Conference in Orlando. It is a conference centered on church planting and multiplication. We are excited to attend this conference and look forward to lots of learning and networking opportunities that will assist us in accelerating church planing in Mexico!
There is something exciting about the beginning of a new year. We often look at it as a new, fresh start for goals and projects. Our ministry is starting a new project this year for which we have been planning, praying and working. The IMPACTOnetwork church planting project is gaining momentum especially with the return of Sergio and Holly Alvarado who had been in the United States presenting the project to churches. We are excited for what God will do with this project to raise up church planters and new churches around Mexico. You can read more about the project on our website.
The IMPACTOnetwork offices will be located in the city of Querétaro(kay-RAY-tar-row) in Central Mexico. Querétaro is the fastest growing city in Mexico. According to the census data, the population of Querétaro grew 29% from 2000-2015. The census also showed that 51 people move to Querétaro daily*. Please pray for Sergio and Holly as they are in Querétaro this week looking for office space and housing.

Our family will move to Querétaro in July once the boys finish school. At the end of December we had the opportunity to explore our future city with my parents! In Querétaro, we visited the historic downtown, pyramids, and the famous aqueduct.
I will be in the United States during March and April visiting churches and supporters to talk about this new project. If you're interested in hearing more in person, please let me know and we'll get it on the calendar! One major need during this time is a VEHICLE. If you have a car you can loan for 2 months this spring (or even part of that time), please let me know!
January 12-14, I escaped the chill of Pachuca and went to the NMSI offices in Ft. Myers, Florida for a member care summit. Our organization is reshaping the way that we care for our missionaries and I was privileged to participate in the group that is working on this important task.
Thank you for your continued support of our family. We are so thankful for you!
